Pink or Blue? Fun ways to reveal your baby's gender!

Twinkle twinkle little star, how we wonder who you are?

One of the most exciting aspects of being pregnant is finding out whether you will be having a boy or a girl! This is a pinnacle moment after the 20 week scan (or slightly before if you’ve opted for a 16 week 4D scan), where you can really start to plan your nursery, colour schemes and Newborn photoshoots!

It’s becoming increasingly popular to make an event out of the big reveal, so if you’ve decided to not keep things neutral and find out whether you’ll be buying blue or pink here are some of the most innovative ideas around. The key to a great gender reveal is to create a moment that you can share with your friends and family and that visually provides a clear cut answer to the most important question, boy or girl?

Cutting the cake!

Using whatever delicious cake is going to satisfy your cravings, a pink or blue buttercream and delicate sponge can be hidden underneath a beautifully decorated cake. This is a winner on so many levels; you get cake, your guests get cake and it creates a perfect photo opportunity to document the moment you discover whether your little cherub is blue or pink. Another fun idea is if you’ve got a sibling who’s about to celebrate a birthday how about a gender reveal themed photo as part of their cake smash photoshoot!

Balloon reveals!

One of the simplest yet most effective ways of revealing your baby’s gender to the world is using balloons! You can either fill an opaque balloon with coloured confetti which is popped to reveal a cascade of colour or fill a box with pink or blue balloons. This is a great one to involve younger siblings as the sheer excitement of popping balloons will fill them with happiness!

Piñata

If you’re looking for a slightly more inventive idea then a piñata could be a great option. You could have it filled with pink or blue sweets but for a more creative twist how about using lips and moustache sweets! You could tie this into a whole themed event and involve your guests by grabbing some photobooth props and letting them go wild creating pictures of your special reveal for you to treasure.

Party cannons / Confetti

If you’re looking for something to create a bit more of a bang how about using party cannons and confetti. You can go big with this idea (as much as you are willing to clean up in the aftermath of course!) Making a bold colourful statement you could coordinate the reveal moment so each guest pops a cannon surrounding you. This would create a beautiful photo opportunity. You could even incorporate this into a maternity photoshoot to document this wow moment in your journey!

Brag Book

If you fancied doing something a little different you could create brag books for your baby’s nearest and dearest. Each photo album could be filled with scan pictures of your little one and on the last page you could have a sweet poem revealing their gender. Of course if you’re planning on having a maternity photoshoot you could include some of your beautiful pictures too!

Once you’ve revealed your baby’s gender to the world its time to start thinking about colour schemes, themes and of course Newborn photoshoots.
